Antwaun Griffin joined the International Trade Administration (ITA) in 2012 as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Domestic Operations.
Prior to joining the ITA, Antwaun served as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Senior Advisor for Field Operations from 2009 through 2011. In this position, he coordinated the development of policies, guidelines and operating procedures relating to the day-to-day management and operations of SBA’s 114 regional and district field offices around the country.
Antwaun has a strong understanding of the interagency, legislative and intergovernmental processes and served as the field offices’ chief point of contact for other federal agencies with economic development programs. In addition to developing and managing field staff training on new programs and policies, he also helped to develop a model for field leadership which is credited with maintaining the high value of service to SBA’s customers and local stakeholders during the past three years.
Antwaun developed the political, management, and strategic acumen required for this position through over a decade of experience in politics and field operational management. He’s worked on or led numerous state and national efforts including service as the Georgia State Director for Obama for America, National Political Director for America Votes, Southern Political Director for Dodd for President, and a Campaign Manager for many local and state races.
Antwaun is a native of Richmond, Virginia and attended the University of Virginia where he was an Echol’s Scholar.
