    This segment stresses the importance of the training and offers some basic information about recent suicides in the Marine Corps. This segment also features a message from the Commandant and the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps about every Marine’s role in suicide prevention. (documentary)

    The RACE method of suicide intervention explores risk factors and warning signs as well as the importance of asking distressed Marines if they are contemplating suicide, caring for those Marines through active listening and other nonjudgmental actions, and escorting them to the appropriate professional resources for help.     Transitions such as a pending medical discharge are particularly stressful times for Marines. In the wake of a Junior Marine’s suicide, the leaders in one command discuss what they had done to help this Marine, the impact of his death, and what they learned from this experience.
