Peebles runs Vilseck past Kaiserslautern

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – All-Europe running back Shawn Peebles ran the ball 21 times for 246 yards and five touchdowns Saturday to lead the Vilseck Falcons to a 48-14 Division I victory over the Kaiserslautern Red Raiders.

Pebbles broke two 76-yard TD runs on the day and supplemented his offensive fireworks by making seven tackles and recovering a fumble from his linebacker position.
Brittian Remington threw touchdown passes of 23 and 54 yards to Blade Strauss to help Vilseck to a 41-7 halftime lead in the season-opener for both teams.

The two teams combined for four touchdowns in the final 3:52 of the first half, according to Vilseck coach Jim Hall.

Peebles broke the first of his 76-yard scoring jaunts at 3:52 and struck for his second 76-yarder 1:39 later. Kaiserslautern answered that TD, however, by returning the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a score, but Remington hit Strauss for the 54-yard score with 11 seconds to go to redeem the special teams failure.

Victor Hernandez aided the defense with six tackles and two sacks for Vilseck, which is to host Ramstein in an early D-I test Saturday.

K-town next is to host Heidelberg on Friday night.
