INTRODUCTION
This program has two components; the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) and the Summer STEP. This program provides flexible temporary employment to enable students to earn a salary while continuing their studies. Students may work full or part time as long as the work schedule does not interfere with the student's academic schedule.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Group 1 - Clerical
Applicants for Clerk, Office Automation Clerk/Assistant positions must be at least 16 years of age at the time employed and require a minimum amount of education and/or experience. Positions are filled at grades GS-1 through GS-5. The applicant should be able to type at least 40 Words Per Minute (WPM).
- Group 2 - Non Clerical
Applicants for Computer Clerk/Assistant or Engineering Aid/Technician positions must be at least 16 years of age and have education and/or experience appropriate to the type of work for which applying. Positions are filled at grades GS-1 through GS-5.
All students must be enrolled in an accredited training institution, such as an accredited high school, college, vocational or technical
school, and must maintain a GPA of 2.0.
STEP PROGRAM (YEAR ROUND)
Applicants should refer to the DISA current job opportunities at: USAJobs under Student Programs. Students should submit a resume and a high school or college transcript. Applications are also accepted on a year-round basis.
STEP PROGRAM (SUMMER)
Applicants can only apply for this program during the month of February each year. The job announcement will be posted on the DISA Web site at USAJobs. Summer positions normally begin in May (or the earliest date the student is available) and will end not later than September 30. U.S. Citizenship is required for participation in either program. Students must be able to obtain a security clearance.

Current intern positions are posted on the USAJobs web site and are identified by the term "INTERN" in the job title.
For additional job opportunity information during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters, the Intern Program Office (IPO) attends various college/university and diversity career fairs. Students may apply for jobs by attending one of these recruiting events. At recruiting events, Intern Program Office representatives and DISA managers will be available at the DISA Recruiting Booth to answer questions about employment and how to apply for Intern positions. Individuals should attend recruiting event to obtain a flyer with information on "How to Apply" for Intern positions and to speak with DISA IPO personnel.
