Financial
In addition to the support of our Financial Services Program, we also offer a few every-day conveniences to help you manage your finances.
Payment & Direct Deposit
Direct Deposit via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
The government makes payments electronically through a mandatory program called Direct Deposit.
You can receive your payment through the financial institution of your choice. Direct Deposit
is a safe, convenient and reliable way to receive your federal payment through a financial institution – a
bank, credit union, savings bank or other federally insured institution. You can allot your
payments as you see fit once you’re in the system as an employee. For more information, call
the Office of Human Resources at (571) 272-6000.
Credit Union
Since 1942, Patent & Trademark Office Federal Credit Union (PTOFCU) has provided financial services to
Patent and Trademark Office employees and contractors. As a member of PTOFCU, you and members
of your family are eligible for a lifetime of financial services.
The PTOFCU operates Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If the Patent & Trademark Office Undersecretary grants 2 hours administrative leave to USPTO employees, the
credit union will close one hour early.
The credit union closes at 12:30 p.m. for staff training once per quarter. We will keep you
informed of all early closings as soon as possible.

your needs after your career with the USPTO is complete, OPM is proud to take part in the Retirement
System Modernization Program. For more information on retirement benefits as a federal
