DESCRIPTION

The Dial-up, Internet Protocol (IP) and Dedicated Video Teleconferencing (VTC) service is a “meet me” type of service and consequently depends on its users to have the appropriate infrastructure to access the system. These services allow simultaneous video and audio communication between two or more video teleconferencing facilities (VTFs). The video services include point-to-point and multipoint video teleconferencing service between dial-up, IP and dedicated VTFs at unclassified, secret and allied secret security levels.

FEATURES

The Dial-up, Internet Protocol (IP) and Dedicated Video Teleconferencing service offers three types of multi-point conferences, which include the following:

  • Telebroadcast — Video and an audio signals are sent from one VTF to two or more VTFs without a signal being sent in return.  This is similar to watching a television broadcast.
  • Teleseminar — Video and audio signals are sent from one VTF to two or more VTFs and only the audio signal is returned. This allows for fully interactive audio in the conference. This method is often used for distance learning because all participants can see the instructor and hear each other’s questions or comments.
  • Interactive — Video and audio signals are sent and received by all participants in the conference. This type of multi-point conference can incorporate one of three different types of switching (i.e., Voice activated, Lecture or Chairperson control).
