U.S. Delegation Visits Tidiane Leadership
Ambassador Lukens and a small delegation from the U.S. Embassy, including the heads of Political Affairs and Public Affairs, paid a courtesy call to the spokesperson of the Tidiane Caliphate on February 5, the Ambassador’s first official visit to Tivouane.

USAID Launches Youth Programs
On January 25, USAID launched two new programs to help empower youth in Senegal. The first, the Young Farmers program, will train 400 young people age 16-29 in agribusiness over the next two years. A second new initiative partially funded by USAID is a regional program for young African social entrepreneurs.

Empowering Women through Sports Program
With the arrival of 12 young female basketball players and two coaches from Senegal, the U.S. Department of State launched its first Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative program of the year.
