We’re Back!

As I am sure many of you have probably noticed, we are no longer TEACH.gov but are now TEACH.org. We are very excited about this change! As of February 2012, the U.S. Department of Education (Department) transferred ownership of the TEACH campaign, which included the recruiting efforts and the maintenance and operations of the web portal to Microsoft Corporation.

Microsoft is ready to take on the responsibilities and challenges of the TEACH campaign. TEACH was launched last year with the goal of recruiting the next generation of great teachers. TEACH realizes and understands that strong teachers are the greatest advertisements and tools for recruitment. TEACH also knows that teachers are leaders and create the leaders of tomorrow. For that reason, TEACH.org is working to exponentially improve the national perception of teaching, improve teacher diversity, and increase the number of recruits who graduate in the top third of their class. “The ability to attract and retain the best talent to the teaching profession will shape public education in the country for the next thirty years,” according to Secretary Duncan at the official launch of TEACH.org.

TEACH.org is not working alone to elevate the teaching, but is building a partnership with the government and private sector to provide every child with quality public education. As Secretary Duncan stated at Microsoft’s Partners in Learning Forum which announced the transition of TEACH.gov to TEACH.org, “we have to elevate and strengthen the teaching profession. This takes massive cultural change, but the long term impact is extraordinary”.

As we are working to make this transition as seamless as possible, please be patient with us. We are working to develop a more user friendly webpage and provide potential and current teachers with the information and tools needed to become great teachers. Because when you become a teacher, you become a leader as soon as you stand in front of your classroom. For that reason, TEACH wants to help you cultivate your skills as a leader and teacher by providing the necessary resources and support.

Also, don’t forget to follow up on Facebook and Twitter as we make the transition from TEACH.gov to TEACH.org.
