Hosting NIJ-Sponsored Training

State and local criminal justice agencies can host the following NIJ-sponsored training courses at their facilities:

There is no charge to the host or attendees for the courses but any costs for attendees, such as travel, lodging and meals are the responsibility of the attendee or the attendee's agency.

Digital Evidence Collection Training
Contact the International Data Forensics Solution Center at host@IDFSC.com Exit Notice. Host responsibilities include:

  • Comfortable accommodations for 50–100 students.
  • A projector with a 6-ft-projection surface viewable by all students in the classroom.
  • Local and regional course promotion to law enforcement agencies in the host area.
  • Onsite contact to assist in logistics.

Computer Forensic Investigation Training
Contact the International Data Forensics Solution Center at host@IDFSC.com Exit Notice. Host responsibilities include:

  • Comfortable classroom to accommodate seating for 20 students with work area for laptops. (Laptops will be supplied by the International Data Forensics Solution Center.)
  • Power supplied to each individual workstation.
  • Projector with a 6-foot-projection surface viewable by all students in the classroom.
  • Local and regional course promotion to law enforcement agencies in the host area.
  • Onsite contact to assist in logistics.
  • Easy access to lunch locations nearby the training location for students.

Macintosh Forensics Training
Contact the Mac Marshall training coordinator at ATC-NY. Host requirements include:

  • A facility large enough to accommodate 25 to 30 students at desks/tables, with room at the front for an instructor.
  • A computer projector and screen.
  • Electricity source for each student.

If Macintosh computers are available for attendee use, computer requirements include Mac OS X 10.4 or newer with DVD drive. If Macintosh computers are not available at the training facility, each attendee will need to bring his own computer.

There is no charge to the host or attendees for the 1-day training.  Any costs for attendees, such as travel costs, hotels, per diem, parking, food and other incidentals are the responsibility of each attendee or his agency.

Serial Number Restoration Training
Contact Special Agent Jim Yurgealitis at 240-264-1401, or Management Analyst Sheila Hopkins at 240-264-1477. Host laboratories will be required to provide:

  • Supplies including chemical reagents and spray bottles for water.
  • Classroom and lab space, including two to three operating fuming hoods, Power Point projector, and flip chart or blackboard.

The host laboratory may invite the appropriate number of students their facility will accommodate. Please contact the training coordinators listed below for host agreement.
