May 9, 2012

WASHINGTON - Today the National Transportation Safety Board released a short video (3:09) highlighting the issues to be addressed at its forum, "Reaching Zero: Actions to Eliminate Substance-Impaired Driving," which will be held on Tuesday - Wednesday, May 15-16, 2012, in the NTSB Conference Center and Board Room in Washington, DC. In addition, the final agenda, with speaker names, affiliations, and biographies, has been published and is available on the forum website: www.ntsb.gov/ReachingZero.

The two-day forum will include a look at the substances that impair drivers and how those effects are measured; an examination of the types of individuals that drive impaired and how such behavior can be prevented; the role of education and outreach; judicial and extra-judicial approaches to preventing substance-impaired driving; and a look at strategies other countries have used to reduce substance-impaired driving accidents and fatalities.

The forum is free and open to all; no registration is required.
