ONRR Information

The ONRR website presents a wealth of information about the organization.  Try "Who We Are" to start or click one of the topic buttons on the left.

  • The Statistics pages provide data on the annual revenues derived from minerals production on federal onshore and offshore lands and the distribution of that revenue to stakeholders.
  • The Laws & Regulations pages provide links to regulations, Federal Register notices, proposed and final rules, comments on proposed regulations and more.
  • And, like other websites, ONRR is linked to other internet resources – including the Library of Congress, one of the world's greatest informational sources, and other agencies and offices within the Department of the Interior.

The Next Level of Service -- While the vast majority of information held by the federal government is available to the public, a small, but certain portion remains sensibly protected from disclosure.

If the information you seek is not already available, and has been deemed to be other than public information, you may still seek it, but more formally, under provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

However, most information maintained by the ONRR is publicly available and a FOIA request may not be necessary. If you have questions about the need for a formal FOIA request, please contact either the ONRR Public Affairs Officer or the ONRR FOIA Officer.  If your request is for ONRR data you may send a request to the ONRR Data Request mailbox.
