USS MOUNT WHITNEY, Atlantic Ocean — USS Carr (FFG 52) approaches a distressed vessel off the coast of Sierra Leone Jan. 14. The vessel was spotted by lookouts from USS Mount Whitney. The small craft, with a crew of six, had been at sea for 35 days and was without a working motor, food or water. Within two hours, the craft was resupplied and able to make the journey back to land safely under it's own power, thanks to the crew of USS Carr. USS MOUNT WHITNEY, Atlantic Ocean — USS Carr (FFG 52) approaches a distressed vessel off the coast of Sierra Leone Jan. 14. The vessel was spotted by lookouts from USS Mount Whitney.
