MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Jan. 13, 2012) - Sailors prepare for flight operations on the flight deck aboard the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) while transiting the Straits of Messina. Bataan is the command ship of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and is currently supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
