This Congress, House Republicans have made their top priority clear: protecting tax cuts for the wealthiest. But another poll out today resoundingly shows that the GOP’s top priority is not that of the American people:
26 percent of Americans support extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest. [National Journal, 6/19]
And that’s when they’re actually doing anything at all. According to CNN, in the 112th Congress only 132 law have been passed and “about one-fifth of those measures were to approve official names for post offices.”
Meanwhile, middle class families are watching the clock: only 11 days remain before construction workers find themselves without a paycheck and interest rates double for students across the country.
But with their eyes on millionaires instead of the middle class, the GOP:
Refuses to bring up a bipartisan, Senate-passed transportation bill that creates or saves more than 2 million jobs, rebuilds our infrastructure, and supports the hard-hit construction industry.
Voted only to prevent the interest rate hike for more than 7 million students students at the expense of women’s health.
It’s time for Republicans reevaluate their priorities, learn some time management and get to work. The clock is ticking.
