  3. On Sept. 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives and more than 6,000 were injured at the hands of terrorists that infiltrated our homeland. Today marks the 11th anniversary of those barbaric attacks.
Our Armed Forces and other elements of national security continue to diligently work in eliminating these terrorist threats and networks who wish to bring harm to innocent people around the world.
We will never forget what occurred that fateful day on our nation’s soil and we will forever honor the thousands of civilian and military men and women who died protecting and defending our nation.
    We Will Never Forget,

  4. The SEAC met with Airmen from the 86th Airlift Wing at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Sept. 4, as part of his tour of United States European Command. This visit gave the Kaiserslautern Military
Community the opportunity to show the SEAC the strategic contributions of the joint forces within the KMC.
  5. I encourage you to turn to Page 12 of the September edition of the NCO Journal where it features an article on "Hazing."

SMA Raymond F. Chandler III and I discuss the importance of leaders being part of the solution and not part of the problem as it pertains to taking care of our service men and women.

  6. Dear Total Force,

September is designated as Suicide Prevention Month. While this month recognizes “prevention,” just as important are two other phases: "intervention" and "postvention." All three phases are intertwined, and I encourage all enlisted leaders and spouses throughout the Total Force to increase our awareness not just this month but every month throughout the year.

Service members, military families and veterans -- remember the acronym N.O.W.

    No problem is ...
too big that should drive someone to use suicide as a solution. We’ll find a better way and we can do it together.

Outreach for help is literally a finger-tip away. Whether it's pushing a button on a telephone, knocking on the chaplain’s door or texting your team leader, assistance is readily available.

And finally, We care! We clearly recognize that as members of this professional organization you have committed to our nation and we are committed to you!

Stay Fit, Stay Strong, Stay Resilient!

The flags flown at half staff Friday, Aug. 31 at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall and around the world will be to show respect to Neil Armstrong who died at age 82 Aug. 25.

  10. The SEAC visited Terra Zvara, the USO of Metropolitan Washington, and the rest of the Reagan National Airport services specialists yesterday. The USO continues to provide world-class support to our troops, families and veterans.
  11. Yesterday, Lisa and I had the extreme honor and pleasure to welcome about 70 of our World War II and Korean War veterans to the nation's capital.

They arrived at Reagan National Airport as part of the Honor Flight Network. They spent the day visiting sites around the city -- most notably their WWII Memorial. Enjoy the photos of these great Americans and patriotic role models. — at Washington D.C.
  12. Accompanied by SGM John Gipe, the SEAC visited the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA. He met with the college Commandant MajGen Ward, Mr. John Lipps, SEJPME Program Manager and other faculty membership to discuss ways in exploring additional opportunities for Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education. Photos to follow.
  13. I recently visited Fort Campbell, Kentucky, home of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). It was a professional honor to be a part of the Division's 70th Anniversary and Week of the Eagles. The week culminated with many significant events -- a Division memorial service, a Division pass and review parade, and the retirement of Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin Hiil, one of our most respected and valued senior leaders in the DoD. Congratulations to the soldier and NCO of the Year and 2nd Brigade "Strike" for their accomplishments in being best of the best.
