DoD Internal information collections training

Our next training class covering both DoD internal information collection and DoD public information collections will be Tuesday 16 October 2012, 0930-1200 at the Mark Center. All are welcome. Sign up today by sending an email to dod.internal.collect@whs.mil. Attendees must have a DoD PMP CAC card or a DoD access badge to enter the Mark Center. Attendees without a DoD PMP CAC card will need to go through the Visitor's Center (VCC) to obtain a Visitor's Badge prior to class.

How do I know if this report control symbol is current?
See the Active RCS's (PDF) to view a list active report control symbols (RCS).  DoD personnel can visit the DoD Internal Information Collections System (available to those with via DoD CAC only) which is a repository that holds the approval forms, collection instrument, other documents, and data for all current, cancelled, and expired report control symbols. 

Why do I need a license for this information collection?
In accordance with the policy instruction DoD Instruction 8910.01 and Directive-Type Memorandum 12-004, DoD Components must not respond to those information collections that are not properly coordinated and assigned a report control symbol. 

I need to obtain a report control symbol (RCS).  Where do I start?

How do I estimate the cost for this information collection?
All DoD internal information collections must have a Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE) summary.   See step 2 on the DoD Internal Information Collections Approval Process page for more information on using the CAPE tool to derive the estimated cost of a DoD internal information collection.

My report control symbol is expired or expiring. What should I do?
Expired report control symbols must be reinstated.  Report control symbols that have not yet expired may be processed to extend the expiration date.  See “Reinstate an expired DoD internal information collection” and “Extend the expiration date of a report control symbol” on the DoD Internal Information Collections Approval Process page for more information on reinstating and extending the expiration dates of report control symbols.

Are there special approval procedures for surveys?
All surveys must be coordinated with the OSD Privacy Office and the Office of the Defense Manpower and Data Center (DMDC).  See step 3 on the DoD Internal Information Collections Approval Process page for more information on coordinating surveys.

How do I coordinate my information collection with an issuance?
