EAC Announces Recipients of Over $8 Million in Grant Funding

Funds will support advances in pre-election logic and accuracy testing and post-election audits and accessible voting system technology.
EAC announces the winners of over $8 million in federal grant funds to support research and development that advances voting accessibility technology to enable citizens with disabilities to vote privately and independently. A portion of the funds ($1.4 million) will also support research to develop and document processes and best practices for coordinating quality and cost-effective voting system pre-election logic and accuracy testing (L&A) and post-election audits.
The Accessible Voting Technology and the Pre-Election Logic and Accuracy/Post Election Audit Initiative grants are authorized by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). Below are the grant winners.

EAC is an independent commission created by the Help America Vote Act. EAC serves as a national clearinghouse and resource of information regarding election administration. It is charged with administering payments to states and developing guidance to meet HAVA requirements, adopting voluntary voting system guidelines, and accrediting voting system test laboratories and certifying voting equipment. It is also charged with developing and maintaining a national mail voter registration form. The two EAC commissioners are Gineen Bresso and Donetta Davidson. There are two vacancies on the commission.
