(1) These composite estimates include the Commodity Flow Survey and non-CFS sectors such as imports, logging, construction, retail, services, publishing, municipal solid waste, and household and business moves. They also include estimates of in-scope shipments for sectors that are covered in CFS but may have been underestimated due to small sample size, such as exports, intermodal, and petroleum products.
(2) "Truck" as a single mode includes shipment that were made by only private truck, only for-hire truck, or a combination of private and for-hire truck.
(3) Estimates for pipeline include shipments of crude petroleum.
(4) Other multiple modes include combination of truck and water, rail and water, and other combinations.
