Welcome Message

On behalf of the entire AT&L Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy team, I welcome you to our website. I hope you will find the content relevant, easy to use, and beneficial as we carry out our mission of monitoring, preserving, and enhancing the national security industrial base of the United States.

The industrial base upon which the Department relies has changed dramatically over the decades and our office is dedicated to making sure the policies the Department of Defense applies to this base keep up with the changing times.

Our nation continues to fight two wars. Our Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines are supported by the most capable, dynamic and competent industrial base in the world—our job within Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy is to ensure this is as true tomorrow and in the next decade as it is today. We are well aware that this technological and operational advantage, which is due in large measure to the skills and innovation of a highly trained workforce, is not a birthright to be taken for granted. Our capabilities have been hard earned over decades and must be carefully monitored and, when appropriate, nurtured to ensure we continue to provide our warfighters with the systems necessary to successfully execute their missions. It is with this challenge that we come to work every day.

We look forward to working with our partners in industry, the financial sector, the Congress, and our universities to build a relationship founded on open and transparent dialogue, as well as common purpose. Though we may disagree on specific issues, we can all agree that our number one priority is the warfighter and the security of our great Nation. With that focus in mind, I am confident that by working together, we can achieve an Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy that benefits us all.
