  • Golden Knights take Knox plunge

    FORT KNOX, Ky. -- More than 30 COIs participated in the Golden Knights tandem camp Oct. 26-28 at Fort Knox. The 3rd Recruiting Brigade brought the Army's Tandem team to post in order to provide a first hand "total Army experience" to recruiters and influential community members.

    A Soldier with 21 national rifle shooting records added one more trophy to the case Monday: the U.S. Army's Soldier of the Year. Sgt. Sherri Gallagher's young life has been one of high achievement. Now the 26-year old rifle shooter/instructor for the Army Marksmanship Unit is the first female to win the Army's Best Warrior competition.

  • Army Recruiting Command battles stigma of mental healthcare

    The U.S. Army Recruiting Command is battling the stigma associated with seeking mental healthcare with a personal look into the lives of some of its soldiers. Soldiers and civilians across the command will "stand down" Aug. 20, for a day of training primarily focused on reducing that stigma. USAREC Soldiers who have sought help will share their stories on a video that will air command-wide on Stand-Down Day. The video, produced under the direction of Command Psychologist Lt. Col. Ingrid Lim, comes on the heels of similar Army suicide prevention video projects aimed at striking a chord with Soldiers.

  • Future Soldier embarks on her quest

    Future Soldier Paige Nye joined the Army last July, and a month later, she became the Platoon Guide - equivalent to an officer rank in the active-duty Army - for the Mechanicsburg U.S. Army Recruiting Station's Future Soldier Program. Her recruiter, Sgt. 1st Class Scott Newcomer credits Nye with helping to prepare as many as 60 fellow Future Soldiers for their new lives as Army Soldiers.
