    Secretary of the Army John McHugh conducts an official visit to the Mongolian Ministry of Defense to meet with senior officials. Thousands of Mongolian peacekeepers have contributed to world stability over the last 10 years, an impressive contribution for a country of its size. The Mongolian Armed Forces are highly regarded by American Soldiers who have served with them in Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently, approximately 700 troops conduct base security and train the Afghan National Army artillery. In March, Mongolia was designated as the first NATO "partner" under the Individual Partnership and Cooperation Program. McHugh will also observe U.S. service members participating in Exercise Khaan Quest 2012, a regularly scheduled, multinational exercise sponsored by the U.S. Army, Pacific, and hosted annually by the Mongolian Armed Forces.

Allied Air Command Izmir is subordinate to Allied Joint Force Command Naples, and as such, is solely responsible for command and control, oversight, planning, coordination and execution of all air-related tasks for the Southern European Region. The command contributes to the security, peace, stability and territorial integrity of Alliance member states throughout its area of functional responsibility. Army Maj. Gen. Frederick B. Hodges is heading up the new land command in Izmir for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

"It's an opportunity for the National Guard to bring in employers of our traditional part-time Guardsmen to see what their civilian employees do while on military status while preparing to deploy to theater," said Lt.
