The Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative brings together federal, state and local law enforcement to combat gun and gang crime. At the core of PSN is increased federal prosecution to incapacitate chronic violent offenders as well as to communicate a credible deterrent threat to potential gun offenders. United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announces the following sentences in federal PSN cases.
These cases are the product of investigations by the ATF and the Fresno Police Department.
Two Fresno Men Sentenced Today
Chief U.S. District Judge Anthony W. Ishii sentenced Vincent Salinas, 33, of Fresno, to four years and nine months in prison. According to court documents, on January 20, 2012, Salinas had a Savage Model 94, .410 –bore shotgun with an overall length of less than 26" and a barrel length of less than 18" in a backpack he was wearing. Salinas had purchased the firearm about a year before. He has prior felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance, assault with a deadly weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Chief U.S. District Judge Anthony W. Ishii sentenced Darryl Bradley, 33, of Fresno, to two years and six months in prison. According to court documents, on December 11, 2011, a Fresno police officer conducted a traffic stop on a van that Bradley was driving. Bradley was on parole open to search and seizure and had a suspended license. Officers found a .22-caliber rifle in the back of the van and a box of .22 caliber ammunition on the center dash board. Bradley has prior felony convictions for selling or furnishing marijuana, burglary, grand theft, and possession of a controlled substance.
Assistant United States Attorney Kimberly A. Sanchez prosecuted the cases.
