Helgi C. Walker

Helgi C. Walker is a partner at Wiley Rein LLP, where she is co-chair of the firm’s Appellate and Communications Litigation groups. Walker has extensive experience in appellate, litigation and regulatory matters involving common carrier, wireless, cable, Internet and broadcast issues.

From 2001-2003, Walker served as Associate Counsel to the President of the United States. She also served as Senior Legal Advisor and Chief of Staff (1999-2000) and Legal Advisor (1997-1999) to Commissioner Harold Furchtgott-Roth at the Federal Communications Commission. Prior to that, she served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Clarence Thomas, Supreme Court of the United States (1995-1996) and for the Honorable J. Harvie Wilkinson III, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit (1994-1995).

In 2009, Walker was appointed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to serve on its Advisory Committee on Procedures. From 2006-2010, she served, by appointment by the President of the United States, on the District of Columbia Judicial Nominations Commission.

Walker received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Virginia.
