Mainz have been a bogey team for Bayern Munich in recent seasons, but this time they claimed an easy 3-1 victory. Mario Mandzukic, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Toni Kroos scored for the home side, while Adam Szalai scored from the spot for the guests.

The watchful gaze of the chancellor
Angela Merkel was on hand to see Dortmund's painless 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen. The chancellor was there to promote the government's new integration initiative "Go your own way." Though she wore a Dortmund scarf, she dressed in Leverkusen's black and red. The champions' goals were scored by Mats Hummels, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Robert Lewandowski.

Home defeat for Gladbach
For the first time under new coach Lucien Favre, Mönchengladbach conceded three goals in a home game. Timm Klose, Timmy Simons, and the excellent Hiroshi Kiyotake scored for Nuremberg, while Luuk de Jong and Granit Xhaka's goals were not enough for the home side. Klose notched up his first ever Bundesliga win.

Huszti wins it for Hannover
Hannover got the spectacular decider in the third minute of stoppage time through Szabolcs Huszti in their 3-2 win over Bremen. The Hungarian had already scored the opener with a sublime free-kick and provided the cross for Leon Andreasen's header for the 2-0. Aaron Hunt and Kevin de Bruyne got Werder back in it before Huszti settled the game.

Third game, fifth point for Düsseldorf
Only the guests will have enjoyed the 0-0 between Stuttgart and Düsseldorf, with Fortuna still unbeaten after their third game after promotion. But Stuttgart will have garnered little comfort from their one point - they're still at the wrong end of the table.

Tedious kick-around in Augsburg
Friday's 0-0 between Augsburg and Wolfsburg could have whetted the appetite for the Bundesliga weekend - instead it probably caused a bit of indigestion. There were few goal chances, and little or no technical skill. But at least it supplied the struggling Wolfsburg with their first point.

Henry Kissinger, Nobel Peace Prize winner and former US secretary of state, regularly came to watch Greuther Fürth play when he was growing up, before his family emigrated to the US. On Saturday, he saw them lose 2-0 to Schalke. Julian Draxler and Lewis Holtby scored the Royal Blue goals.

Hoffenheim coach Markus Babbel needs a result on Sunday. Ahead of the game in Freiburg, his club lie at the bottom of the table without a point. Another defeat and Babbel could well start fearing for his job.
