Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen announced that the National Science Foundation has awarded a $300,000 grant to Montgomery College’s “Teaching Pathways Opening Doors to STEM” project. The program will help increase the number of teachers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and will serve as a model for community colleges across the country.

“Montgomery College has established itself as a leader in STEM career development and with this grant, it will be able to team with Montgomery County Public Schools and four-year universities to recruit and prepare more highly qualified secondary teachers in science and math,” said Congressman Van Hollen.  “This program will serve as a nationwide model to build our science and math teaching workforce and ensure that every child has a highly qualified teacher in the classroom.”
