- My deepest condolences to the families of Ambassador Stevens and the 3 others killed in Libya. These attacks are an outrage and the killers must be brought to justice.
- Today marks 11 years since the September 11th attacks on our country. It is my hope that not just on the anniversary of 9/11, but every day, we will remember the innocent lives lost - and their loved ones who were left without fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. We should make a special remembrance of the first responders, the passengers of Flight 93, and all the heroes ...who ran in to danger so that others might live. They have the eternal thanks of a grateful nation.See More
In the 11 years since 9/11, we have made great progress. Today we are safer and that credit is due largely to our law enforcement, first responders, military and intelligence community who tirelessly work to secure our great nation. And although we are safer, the threat of terrorism remains. We must be vigilant and never become complacent. - I recently had the chance to address a group of local veterans at an event hosted by State Rep. Kate Harper at Montgomery County Community College. I spoke about my efforts in Congress to support our veterans, including helping establish Veterans Treatment Courts, increase educational opportunities for veterans and their families, and help veterans find jobs.

- Last week I had the opportunity to participate in a ceremony honoring a local veteran, Thomas Turner, at the American Legion Post 668 located in Wayne. Corporal Turner was an original member of the Montford Point Marines, a group of African...-American Marines who served our country during World War II. Our country recently honored the Montford Point Marines with the Congressional Gold Medal, our nation's highest civilian honor. I was honored to present Corporal Turner with a Certificate of Special Congressional Appreciation for his service to our country and community, and to personally thank him for his barrier-breaking military service, and for his dedication to his family, his community, and his church.See More
- Today I was honored to receive the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) 2012 “Access to Innovation” Award. These technologies not only help save lives, they help grow our economy in Pennsylvania. I appreciate this recognition from MITA, and I will continue working with my colleagues in Congress to ensure that patients have access to life-saving medical imaging technologies.

I was honored to receive the 2012 Standing Up for Seniors Award from RetireSafe and United Way. Standing up for our seniors is one of my highest priorities in Congress so it truly is an honor to receive this recognition. During my time in C...ongress, I have fought to protect and preserve Medicare and Social Security, make prescription drugs safer and more affordable, and protect seniors’ benefits.
