Postsecondary/College Level Tables
This section provides tables on career education at the postsecondary level, including data from public, nonprofit, and for-profit postsecondary education institutions and from students in the United States (50 states and Washington, DC). (Data from faculty exclude for-profit and less-than-2-year institutions.) Federal legislation (2006 Perkins Act, P.L. 109-270) defines career/technical education as education leading to a postsecondary credential below the bachelor's degree level; however, the tables in this section include both sub-baccalaureate and baccalaureate education, referring to this enterprise as career education. (Many tables provide separate data on sub-baccalaureate and baccalaureate education, so that the reader can examine both sectors separately or together.) Tables from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) differ from other NCES products in that they exclude institutions that offered only graduate or first-professional credentials, institutions for which the highest level of the institution was unspecified, and administrative units. Consequently, these IPEDS data may not match similar data in other NCES reports. See the glossary for more detail on the postsecondary populations included and definitions of variables. See the postsecondary taxonomy for more information on how career education is defined.
