The threat of hypoxia, decompression sickness and trapped gas are prevented in the aircraft by use of a pressurized cabin. At any time, however, the system can fail, and if this occurs a pilot, crewmembers, and passengers are subjected to cabin decompression. This video describes how the pressurization system works and provides a basic description of the components.
