Once again we express our appreciation and enormous respect for the successful security effort by the United States Secret Service and the New York Police Department at last week’s United Nations General Assembly.
Again, our thanks go to the thousands of law enforcement and homeland security personnel who contributed to the security of the Democratic National Convention.
In addition to inspecting convention security in Cleveland last Friday and Philadelphia later this week, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson receives daily intelligence and operational briefings from U.S. Secret Service Director Joe Clancy and his team, who are on the ground in Cleveland. DHS personnel apprise the Secretary of the latest developments concerning the security situation at both conventions.
Today, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson traveled to Cleveland with U.S. Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator Peter Neffenger, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Executive Associate Director Peter Edge to review the operational security and contingency planning in preparation for next week’s 2016 Republican National Convention.

Heyman Service to America Medals, known as the Sammies: Tate Jarrow, U.S. Secret Service; Mariela Melero, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS); and Ajay Bhatt, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
