Welcome to limnology, the study of inland waters!
The Center for Limnology is a multi-disciplinary center within the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The CFL facilities are comprised of two reseach stations: the Hasler Laboratory of Limnology on the UW-Madison campus, and the Trout Lake Research Station in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. The CFL strives to provide excellence in education, research, and service.

Steve Carpenter has been named the 2011 Stockholm Water Prize Laureate . The award is presented annually by the Stockholm International Water Institute to an individual, organisation, or institution for outstanding water-related activities.
Paul Hanson has been awarded the 2011 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Research: Independent Investigator . The UW-Madison award recognizes outstanding achievement and performance, personal interaction, and initiative and creativity.
