CDC / HRSA Inter-Agency Agreement (IAA)
in support of Migrant Farmworker Stream Forums
To increase awareness of migrant health across the agency, the Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) convened a migrant health committee in 2011. Since 1998, CDC has maintained an Inter-Agency Agreement with the HHS Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), Office of Special Populations, through the Office of Minority Health & Health Equity (OMHHE). This Inter-Agency Agreement supports three regional migrant stream health conferences held in the following regions: Eastern, Midwest, and West Coast. These conferences provide needed education and training to practitioners working in community health centers and migrant health centers throughout the United States and its territories.
CDC has historically participated in the conference planning committees and given presentations on relevant health topics at each of the regional conferences. In order to enhance the collaboration and contribution, OMHHE is leadng intra-agency discussions on migrant health with representatives and subject matter experts from across several centers including CDC's: National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH), National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, & TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), National Center for Emerging & Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID), and Office of Women's Health (OWH).
This Inter-Agency Agreement provides supplemental support to the National Center for Farmworker Health, Inc. (NCFH) to support three annual Farmworker Stream Forums.
The Stream Forums represent a combined national effort to provide opportunities for migrant health providers and others who work with the population to enhance skills, create networking and collaboration opportunities, and to identify additional resources, program models and effective training for the more efficient provision of health care services to farmworkers.
