Federal Obligations for Research by Agency and Detailed Field of Science and Engineering

To provide data users with the most timely data possible, these historical data tables will only be available via the World Wide Web. The statistics in the tables are considered final and are not expected to be revised.

These tabulations result from NSF's Survey of Federal Funds for Research and Development, for fiscal years 1999-2001, and from earlier surveys in this series. (See also Federal Funds for Research and Development: Fiscal Years 1999, 2000, and 2001, Volume 49.) They reflect the research portion of research and development (R&D) funding levels as reported by Federal agencies. Totals in these tables are given in obligations for research by field of science and engineering, and selected agency. The research obligations data are further categorized according to basic research and applied research by field of science and engineering.

These tables are available in Portable Document Format (.pdf).
