U.S.-Vietnam Political, Security and Defense Dialogue

Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Greg Delawie and Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Standing Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will meet June 8, 2009 in Washington D.C. to discuss bilateral and regional security issues. The talks mark the second U.S.-Vietnam Political, Security and Defense Dialogue and will build upon the success of the inaugural Dialogue held in Hanoi in October 2008.

The Dialogue will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the areas of peacekeeping operations and training, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, maritime security, counterterrorism and counternarcotics, border security, and nonproliferation.
