How soon does fertilization occur after sperm and egg meet?      Christine Kobelka, M.S.: I am a genetic counselor who works with patients who have, or are at risk for, genetic conditions. I take family histories, help evaluate patients, and arrange/help interpret genetic testing results. Fast! Lots of sperm meet the egg. When the "one" sperm makes it in, it buries into the egg, and that's fertilization. Peru High School in IN (11th grade student)
