The Wayfarers Chapel

The Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, used a $10,000 grant from the Johanna Favrot Fund for Historic Preservation to develop a  historic structures report through a comprehensive study using an integrated design process involving architectural design, sustainability, and preservation. The report built upon existing historical studies to summarize the historical context  and describes, in detail, geologic hazards, and a plan for the prevention, mitigation, abatement, or control thereof for the Wayfarers Chapel and all impacted areas and buildings. The study analyzes the structural stability of the Chapel, and provides a scheme for needed upgrades, including an updated condition assessment with accompanying recommendations. The results of this study will enable the board and staff of Wayfarers Chapel to implement best practices in preserving Wayfarers Chapel so it can inspire all who visit for generations to come.
