140th Annual American Public Health Association (APHA) Meeting & Exposition
The APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world. APHA's meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health. This year’s theme is, "Prevention and Wellness Across the Life Span." The meeting will be held in San Francisco.

Public Health Grand Rounds: Translating Research into Practice: Injury and Violence Prevention
The Public Health Grand Rounds is a monthly webcast created to foster discussion on major public health issues. Each session focuses on key challenges related to a specific health topic, and explores cutting-edge scientific evidence and potential impact of different interventions.
This webcast will focus on advances in injury and violence prevention science and the methods used to translate the science into practice. The speakers will include Dr. Linda C. Degutis, Injury Center Director; Dr. Georges Benjamin, Executive Director of the American Public Health Association (APHA); Dr. Mel Kohn, Oregon Public Health Director; and Dr. David Sleet, Associate Director for Science in the Injury Center’s Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention. Heads Up Film Festival
In recognition of Brain Injury Awareness Month and CDC Injury Center's 20th anniversary, the CDC Foundation in partnership with CDC is launching the Heads Up Film Festival. Help give a voice to brain injury—a once “Silent Epidemic.” We encourage you to send in videos to experience a supportive community, share your personal stories, and help create a national conversation on brain injury. Videos can be posted anytime from now through the end of March 2012.

National Public Health Week (NPHW) Panel Discussion: Impact of Alcohol Use on Injuries and Violence
In celebration of NPHW and the CDC Injury Center’s 20th Anniversary, the CDC Injury Center in conjunction with the American Public health Assocaition (APHA) and the Emory Center for Injury Control will host a panel discussion highlighting the impact of alcohol and other drugs on injuries and violence. The panel will include Dr. Georges Benjamin, the Executive Director of APHA; Dr. Linda Degutis, Director of the CDC Injury Center; and Dr. Kevin Swartout from Georgia State University’s Urban Health Program. The event will be held at 10:30- 12pm in Room CNR 1000 at the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University. Contact Dr. Rita Noonan for more information.

CDC Injury Center 20th Anniversary Speaker Series: Dialogue about Youth Violence Prevention in America
The event will feature authors Alex Kotlowitz and Deborah Prothrow-Stith, MD. The event will take place April 10, 2012 from 1:00-3:00 pm at CDC’s Chamblee Campus, Building 106, Room 1A&B. This presentation will be available via Envision and IPTV. Contact Dr. Rita Noonan for more information.

Safe States Alliance Annual Meeting
The Safe States Alliance and the CDC Injury Center have once again joined forces to host a dynamic and collaborative annual meeting experience! The theme of the 2012 Annual Meeting is, "Shaping the Path to Safety." The meeting will be held in Atlanta, Georgia at the Buckhead Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.

The NACCHO Annual 2012 meeting is the largest gathering of local health officials in the United States. This year’s theme is, "Navigating the Currents: Positioning Local Health Departments for the Future." The meeting will be held in Los Angeles at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.
