Accomplishments
Trash and Recycling
- In 2007, recycled over 172 tons of paper, cardboard, plastic, cans, and bottles - about 40% of our waste.
- Recycled computers, toner cartridges, batteries, fluorescent tube lights, cell phones, sneakers, and more!
Paper Use
- Cumulative savings to date over $50,000. Reams/person/year is currently ~ 12; our goal is 9.5.
Computers
- Reduced energy consumption of computers by activating "sleep mode."
- Recycled 400 CPUs and monitors.
Energy
- Our Building’s management is now a member of our EMS Team and they just submitted an application for Energy Star certification for the regional office building.
- Greening EPA - Philadelphia provides information on BTU, energy and water consumption of our facility.
Vehicles
- Obtained 12 new hybrid vehicles this year; the rest of the fleet is able to use E-85 fuel.
- Improved our average MPG on fleet vehicles.
- Required all of our drivers of vehicles that take E-85 fuel to fill the vehicle 100% of the time with E-85.
