U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE TO HOLD TWO OPEN HOUSES

FOR THE PUBLIC TO COMMENT ON THE DRAFT COMPREHENSIVE CONSERVATION PLAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR

RED ROCK LAKES NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

 

On October 8 and 9, 2008 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will hold two separate open houses to hear comments from the public on the draft 15-year Comprehensive Conservation Plan and Environmental Assessment for the Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge.

 

Each open house will be between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.  The October 8 meeting will be held at the Lima Fire Hall and the October 9 meeting will be held at the Dillon City Hall, Council Chambers. The Service will make a short presentation on the draft plan, including the Service’s proposed management actions, after which the public is invited to offer their comments on the draft plan.  All public comments will be compiled and presented to the planning team for consideration. The 1997 National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act requires the Service to develop a Comprehensive Conservation Plan for every unit in the refuge system.  Once completed, the plan will guide administration and management of Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge for 15 years.  The Service looks forward to meeting with the public and hearing comments on this planning effort and resulting draft document.
