Answer: Assistant Secretary Kurt Campbell led an interagency delegation to New Delhi, India, on April 4, where he met with counterparts from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and co-chaired the third U.S.-India dialogue on East Asian affairs. Both sides agreed to hold another dialogue later this year.
On April 6 in Singapore, Assistant Secretary Campbell met with Permanent Secretary Bilahari Kausikan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Singaporean officials to discuss bilateral and regional issues.
In Beijing on April 7, Assistant Secretary Campbell met with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Executive Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun, and Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai to discuss bilateral relations and prepare for the Strategic and Economic Dialogue. Assistant Secretary Campbell also raised U.S. concerns about the human rights situation in China. They also discussed our ongoing cooperation on regional and global security issues, such as North Korea and Iran.
