FAQs (Data Related)
The role of both national and state data in arthritis surveillance will be discussed in this section. The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) is the source of data for estimating national arthritis prevalence. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is the source of data for estimating state arthritis prevalence. We will refer to NHIS and BRFSS throughout this section. We will also refer to the specific BRFSS questions used for arthritis surveillance since 1996.
