When the U.S. signs onto various international environmental treaties and conventions it shows the nation’s commitment to comply with the agreed upon requirements and frameworks the treaty or convention establishes. International Affairs implements these agreements and many of our international programs are centered on conventions such as the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species and the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance.
