Enterprise Green Communities helps developers, investors, builders and policymakers make the transition to a green future for affordable housing.

We provide the funds and technical expertise to help build, rehabilitate and operate healthier, more efficient yet still affordable homes. And. We work with state and local governments to ensure the development of smart and sustainable housing and economic development policies.

We developed our Enterprise Green Communities Criteria to bring the improved health, economic and environmental benefits of sustainable construction practices to low-income families.

We wrote the Criteria in consultation with some of the nation's leading environmental, public health and green building experts. This green building framework is the first in the nation to address the unique needs of the affordable housing sector. The Criteria's holistic approach to green building and development promotes:

Better ways to plan neighborhoods and build homes. Resource conservation. Energy efficient. Efficient operations of homes and entire buildings. Healthy living environment.

550 housing organizations supported across the country. 38,000 green, healthy homes created and rehabilitated for low-income people. Over $2 billion invested in the development and preservation of green, healthy and affordable homes. Policies transformed in state, local, and national governments across the country.
