PROKUPLJE AND SOKO BANJA, Serbia - Hundreds of civilians, along with Serbian government officials and Serbian and Ohio National Guard troops gathered to greet Dragan Sutanovac, Serbian Defense Minister and Jennifer Brush, U.S. Charge d'Affaires Aug. 24, 2009, as they visited schoolhouses in Prokuplje and Soko Banja, Serbia. The schools are being renovated by the joint militaries via the National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program; Ohio and Serbia have been partnered since 2006.

SOKO BANJA, Serbia - Soldiers of the 1194th Engineer Company wake up early in the morning, get dressed in their clean but still mortar covered uniforms, and step out the door. From there they are greeted by a scenic view of the mountains, a lake, gardens and numerous local townspeople, who frequently express their gratitude in gifts of food and drinks. For the 1194th, it's just another day on the job.

MIHAIL KOGALNICEANU AIR FIELD, Romania - Approximately 350 Tennessee Army National Guard service members from units across the state returned to the United States Aug. 20 after they completed three weeks of training in Romania and Bulgaria. The service members participated in the third annual Joint Task Force-East rotation of a combined military exercise with the Romanian and Bulgarian Land Forces from Aug. 5-20.
