FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning John J. Fey--P894219 John J. Fey June 9, 1997 Federal Trade Commission Reference: Comment on the proposed new standard for "Made In USA claims. Dear FTC: I am opposed to your proposal to change the standard for "Made In USA" claims. I also disagree with the conclusion of the commission as stated in you're release dated May 5, 1997, in regard to the present rules "The Commission has tentatively concluded that is not what consumers expect in an increasingly global economy." To set the record straight, what consumers want is 'truth in advertising,' if the product claims "Made In USA" I expect the product to meet the generally accepted minimum standard of 98% made in the USA. Don't let special interest foreign corporations persuade you to 'water down' the rules for "Made in the USA." With the new global economy it remains important to maintain the integrity of the "Made in The USA" claim. Sincerely, John T. FeyJohn T. Fey Active Member of The
