  • Road Closure September 12-14, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    Glen Echo, MD-Starting Wednesday September 12th, until Friday, September 14th 2012 Clara Barton Parkway between Chain Bridge and the Glen Echo turnaround from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day to complete road shoulder work created by storm damage.

  • Recent Bicycle Thefts

    Bicycle thefts along the G. W. Memorial Parkway at Theodore Roosevelt Island, Rock Creek Park, and other places have been increasing. Thieves have been cutting locks and stealing bicycles. Please report suspicious activity to Park Police at 703 285 1000

Junior Ranger Program

Pick up a Junior Ranger Booklet at the Ranger Station. Complete at least 5 activities then return and a Park Ranger will check your work. You will earn a Junior Ranger badge and certificate. Also, walk next door to the Clara Barton National Historic Site, complete activities in the book and earn an additional badge and certificate.

2012 Junior Ranger Summer Camps

July 11 - 12: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
July 18 - 19: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
August 1 - 2: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
August 8 - 9: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

History will come alive for children ages 8-13 during an exciting two-day camp with fun-filled learning activities related to the history of Glen Echo Park and Clara Barton's life. Campers will gain an understanding of the National Park Service mission and the national significance of both sites.

In addition, this year's camp highlights Clara Barton's role in the Civil War with a field trip to Antietam National Battlefield. All Junior Ranger activities are offered free of charge. Sign-up for an unforgettable experience! Space is limited and reservations are required. Please call (301) 320-1410 for reservations.

Find The Clues: A Scavenger Hunt for Kids

Saturday, Aug 18 at 12:30 pm.

Meet at the Candy Corner.

Children ages 7-12 and their families are invited to a fun scavenger hunt about history and nature in the park. Kids will uncover different clues during this 30-minute program. Self-guided option available upon request at Ranger Station (located underneath the brick outside bathroom) or call 301-320-1400 for more information.
