2nd Grade End of Year Celebration
All 2nd graders that participated in field trips this year are invited to bring their families back to their refuge. Share what you have learned through the year and teach your family about the wetland.

Family Programs

Nature Tots, First Saturday of the Month 10:30-11:30 am, children ages 3-5 are invited to bring their favorite adult for nature crafts, stories and walks outdoors.

Swampers, First Saturday of the Month 1-2:30 pm, come meet a Park Ranger and participate in hands-on activities and outside programs for children ages 6-10.

Wild Wednesdays, Children are invited to participate in programs and activities each Wednesday, June 13-August 8. Children who have completed K-2nd grade will meet from 10 am - noon. Children who have completed 3rd-5th grade will meet from 1-3 pm. June 13th's topic is Birding for Beginners, and June 20th is The Value of Wetlands, June 27th is Frog Olympics!

Naturally Speaking, June 10, 2 pm. "Amazing Lives of Bats" Join Debbie Nofzinger from Wood County Parks for this family friendly program which includes a live bat. She will share her love of bats and fascinating facts about these flying mammals.

Auto Tour, June 16 and 17. Drive 7 miles of the refuge that are normally closed to the public. Gates open at 8 am and entrance gate closes at 4 pm. The Auto Tour entrance is now at the Visitor Center Parking Lot.

Hike the Dikes, June 16. Summer Residents meet at the Sportsmen's Migratory Bird Center, Magee Marsh Wildlife Center

Along the southern edge of Lake Erie in Ohio lies the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Complex. This complex is made up of three National Wildlife Refuges, two divisions and one waterfowl production area:

With over 9,000 acres, these refuges help to preserve the diminishing Lake Erie marshes and provide a resting and feeding place for birds traveling to their nesting or wintering grounds.
