Guided Tours at the USGS National Center

 

Visits to the USGS Visitors Center are in three parts:

Introduction
A visit begins with a general introduction to the U.S. Geological Survey and a video on a selected topic (preferably what the class is actually studying at the time of the tour) such as earthquakes, volcanoes, invasive species, rocks and minerals, and water issues.

Introduction to the USGS

Hands-On Room
Guided Tours Only. This room contains, microscopes, a water flume, fish, amphibians, and other materials for hands-on activities. Note: groups should be prepared to break up into smaller groups of three and five for activities in the Hands-On Room.

Many of the hallway displays and exhibits that can be seen on self-guided tours are also explained during the guided tours. During fair weather months, visitors can tour our grounds on the Woodland Walk and the Rock Garden Walk.
