Dr. Wise is an epidemiologist in the Office of Population Genomics, National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). Dr. Wise serves as the project scientist for the Gene Environment Association Studies (GENEVA) consortium, a part of the Genes, Environment & Health Initiative (GEI), designed to enhance the understanding of genetic contributions and gene-environment interactions to common disease. Her research interests include gene-environment interactions in complex disease, pharmaco/toxicogenomics, and ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) related to the use of genetic information.
Dr. Wise received her B.S. in environmental science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her Ph.D. in genetics and genomics from Duke University, along with a certificate in integrated toxicology and environmental health.
