Advisory Committee On Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention (ACCLPP)
The Advisory Committee on Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention (ACCLPP) advises and guides the Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding new scientific knowledge and technical developments and their practical implications for childhood lead poisoning prevention efforts. The overall goal of the ACCLPP is to provide advice that will assist the nation in reducing the incidence and prevalence of childhood lead poisoning. According to its charter, the ACCLPP:- reviews and reports regularly on childhood lead poisoning prevention practices;
- recommends improvement in national childhood lead poisoning prevention efforts; and
- develops written recommendations for the prevention and control of childhood lead poisoning
In making such recommendations, the ACCLPP takes into account information about the health effects of lead exposure in children, the epidemiology of childhood lead poisoning, implementation issues, ethical and legal constraints, and other factors.
