PestWise Partnerships Brochure (EPA 731-F-10-001, February 2010) (print version, 2 pp, 2.4MB) — PestWise is a collection of pesticide partnerships and grants programs dedicated to environmental stewardship. These programs are run by the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP). PestWise programs focus on protecting human health and the environment.

Biopesticides Demonstration Program Brochure (EPA-731-F-10-004, February 2010) (print version, 2 pp, 1.9MB) — Biopesticide development requires testing and observation to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of the technology. The Biopesticide Demonstration Program (BDP) serves as a "real-time" laboratory for growers across the country to assess new and pioneering biopesticides across a wide variety of agricultural situations.

Biopesticides Fact Sheet (EPA 731-F-10-006, February 2010) (print version, 2 pp, 1MB) — Biopesticides -also known as biological pesticides- are pesticides derived from natural materials such as animals, plants, bacteria, and certain minerals. Biopesticides target specific pests and generally pose little or no risk to humans or the environment.

Integrated Pest Management Fact Sheet (EPA 731-F-10-005, February 2010) (print version, 2 pp, 1MB) — Pesticides are powerful tools for controlling pests. However, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices are available that can soften the impact to human health and the environment. IPM is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach that makes use of a variety of these tools.

Integrated Pest Management in Schools Program Brochure (EPA 731-F-10-002, February 2010) (print version, 2 pp, 1.6MB) — Our Nation's children spend a considerable amount of their time in schools, as do teachers and school support staff. EPA is working to reduce the risk that both children and employees experience from pesticide exposure in schools and on school grounds.

Integrated Vegetation Management Fact Sheet (EPA 731-F-08-010, October 2008) (print version, 2 pp, 1.2MB) — Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) is generally defined as the practice of promoting desirable, stable, lowgrowing plant communities—that will resist invasion by tall growing tree species—through the use of appropriate, environmentally-sound, and cost-effective control methods. These methods can include a combination of chemical, biological, cultural, mechanical, and/or manual treatments.

Landscaping Initiative Brochure (EPA 731-F-10-009, February 2010) (print version, 2 pp, 2.9MB) — Landscapes help shape the environmental quality of urban and suburban areas. These landscapes are living ecosystems in a network of impervious surfaces (e.g., buildings, driveways, roads, and parking lots).

Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program Brochure (EPA 731-F-08-004, October 2008) (print version, 2 pp, 2MB) —PESP is guided by the principle that voluntary programs complement the standards and decisions established by regulatory ad registration actions. The informed actions of pesticide users can further reduce the risks from pests and pesticides by playing a major in ensuring human health and environmental safety.

Rights-of-Way Fact Sheet (EPA 731-F-08-011, October 2008) (print version, 2 pp, 1.6MB) — Critical electrical power infrastructures-including transmission lines, relay facilities, pipes, fences, gates, bridges, and access roads-occupy many acres across the United States on ROW corridors. Easy, safe access to repair and update these critical infrastructures is essential. Proper maintenance-including vegetation management-of ROW and its supporting facilities is crucial to ensuring the reliable transmission of affordable electrical power.

Case Studies and Bulletins

Biopesticides Demonstration Program Success Stories (EPA 731-F-08-008, February 2010) (print version, 2 pp, 1.4MB) — The success stories discuss how to manage Dollar Spot in Turfgrass, Leaf Drop Disease in Lettuce, and Codling Moth in Apples with biopesticides. These projects illustrate that biopesticides can be ideal tools for both disease control and resistance management—with little or no environmental impact.

Monroe County Community School Corporation Success Story (EPA 731-F-10-007, February 2010) (print version, 2 pp, 1.2MB) — The Monroe County Community School Corporation's (MCCSC) IPM program was developed in the mid-1990s when MCCSC, like most school districts, used scheduled, monthly pesticide sprayings to control the outbreak of pests. Even though the pesticides were applied well within the safety limits established by EPA, there was a growing concern that pesticide applications may result in increased exposure to chemicals, especially because the immune systems and bodies of children are still developing.
